With a view to promote the spirit of Robotics in the student community of the country, The Robotix Team of IIT Kharagpur conducted workshops all over the country .

The workshops covering all aspects of Autonomous Robotics were conducted as part of the grand prelude to Kshitij IIT Kharagpur's Technomanagement fest. Massive participation from audiences all around the country ensured they were a resounding success. Participants were shown live demonstrations and were exposed to each and every step of building an autonomous line following robot.

The Workshop held in Chennai this year was hosted at SRM University. Word about the workshop had spread far and wide and the participation included people from all over the state. With IIT Madras's Shastra going on the enthusiasm for robotics was at an all time high. The crowds excitement was palpable with the audience hanging on to the co-ordinator's every word.

A series of detailed videos were the highlight of the workshop, detailing each and every minute step towards making an autonomous line follower. Despite the late start the audience was more than willing to put forth their views and weren't afraid to question the lecturer. A post workshop session with the participants revealed that almost all of them were interested in participating in the Robotix 2010 events that were explained to them.

KOLKATA WORKSHOP

On 31st October 2009 the annual robotics workshop at the GD Birla Auditorium in Kolkata was host to a staggering audience of more than 750. Unfortunately, due to seating constraints not all who wished to attend could be accommodated. Those who could, though, were in for a special experience as they were treated to a comprehensive presentation on how to build an autonomous robot right from scratch. Understanding of the more challenging concepts of autonomous robotics was ensured through carefully made slides and painstaking explanation of every single concept by the charismatic presenters who kept the interest alive until the very end.

A live demonstration of a line following robot on the auditorium’s giant screen provided the finishing touch and gave the participants of the workshop a feel of the exciting area of autonomous robotics. This was followed by a tantalizing introduction to the Robotix 2010 events which left the audience spellbound and asking for more.

The single largest reason for this workshop’s success, though, was the intensity of the capacity audience which hung on to every word and with its freshness and enthusiasm, made the workshop memorable for each member of the Robotix team.

The Hyderabad workshop was held on 3rd October in the Osmania University Campus. The turnout was unexpectedly large with over 150 participants enthusiastically attending the 3 hour long workshop. This was the second time that Osmania university played host to the Robotix workshop.

While most of the participants had a decent knowledge about mechanical robots, it was the first time that they were exposed to the autonomous aspect of robotics. The enthusiasm was obvious as the organisers and lecturers were beseiged by questions from all corners. The workshop lived up to it's ideal of being interactive with participants even staying back to clear their doubts from the lecturers.

Hyderabad seems to be a hotspot for robotix as the organisers have already been approached for a second workshop in not one but two colleges during the winter. The Robotix team thanks the enthusiastic participants and rest assured we will be back.

The Jaipur workshop was held on 3rd October 09

The Jaipur workshop displayed the growing interest in robotics all over india. The workshop saw a turnout of over 300 people with participation even from out of city colleges. The participants at the Jaipur workshop were indomitable in their resolve to attend the workshop and were even willing to be seated on the ground to have a taste of robotix.

The hard core intricacies of robotics were explained to the audience through a mixture of illustrative slides , videos and live demonstrations of the robots made by our team. In the question and answer round, everyone brought forth their queries and got an insight into how you make a start in the field of robotics.

The workshop left the audience asking for more, with many in the audience remaining in touch with the Robotix team eager to learn further.

The Robotix Workshop held at PEC Chandigarh was a resounding success. Chandigarh already plays host to a formidable robotics culture and the workshop was held in co-ordination with the PEC robotics group. While many in the audience had worked with microcontrollers the use of AVR was a radical new concept.

All concepts were explained through videos and slides which let the participants grasp concepts very easily. The participation was excellent with people coming up with questions and innovative solutions to the challenges being described.

In addition the Robotix 2010 events were also publicized and the audience responded enthusiastically to this opportunity to display their Robotics skills.
