Problem Statement
It can’t get more adventurous!
The robot has to climb up an inclined wedge and it has to check its skin from two pendulums which will be oscillating over the wedge. And now the most interesting part- It has to jump off the wedge with the help of a swing!
The bot has to land on a rectangular block C and run quickly into its victory zone.
Isn’t it fun?
Arena Specification
- Wedge:
- It will be made up of wood.
- NOTE The inclined surface of the wedge will be covered with a 3mm ply to ensure enough friction between the bot and the wedge.
- The dimensions of the starting zone, i.e. Area A will be 100 X 50 cm.
- The inclination of the wedge will range from 25° to 30° .
- The height of the wedge will be 60 cm.
- Other dimensions are as shown in the figure.
-
Pendulum:
- There will be 2 such pendulums per bot.
- Bobs of Pendulum:
- The bobs of the pendulum will be made of wood.
- The diameter of the bob will range from 4-6 cm.
- The distance between the bob and the wedge surface will be just enough for the pendulum to oscillate.
- The bob will be connected by a wire to the upper frame.
- As the bot run commences the bobs will be released from a certain initial amplitude and set in motion.
- Swing :
- The swing will be metallic.
- It will have width 80 cm.
- Initially, its bottom edge will be at a height of 15cm from top of the wedge.
- The diameter of the hande of the swing will range from 1 - 4 cm
- When the swing stops swinging and comes to rest, it will be above the starting line of the victory zone.
- Block C:
- It will be made up of wood
- It will be at a distance of 70 cm from the Wedge.
- It will have dimensions as 100 X 80 X 20 cm.
- The bottom edge of the swing will be at a height of 25cm when it swings past the Block C
- Victory zone: It will be a rectangle with dimensions 25 X 25 cm drawn on the block C

Robot Specification
- The robot should be a manually controlled car with required mechanical setup to hold on to the Swing and swing on to reach block C.
- The dimension of the robot should not exceed 25 cm X 25cm X 25cm.
- The dimensions may exceed once the event commences.
- No Lego kits or complete car bases allowed
- Readymade gear boxes may be used
General Rules
- The maximum time limit for the completion of the event is 5 minutes. This time limit is subject to change during the event.
- There should be no contact between the bot and the bob. There will be a penalty of 50 points every time the contact takes place
- In case of any entanglement between the pendulum and the bot, the bot will be forced to take a restart which eventually will have a penalty of 50 points.
- In the process of swinging, the bot can leave a part of it behind. But the part that enters the victory zone must be a manually controlled robot in itself
- In case the bot falls from the swing the bot can have a maximum of 2 restarts with a penalty of 50 pts each.
- The participant has one more option. After falling the bot can be made to directly climb on block C ( provided it has a mechanism for that ), in that case it will fetch only 50 points.
- The event ends as soon as the bot stands in the victory zone completely.
- Note: The rules are for the preliminary round and may undergo slight modifications for subsequent rounds.
- The decision of ROBOTIX team will be final and binding
Scoring Rules
- The final score will be (50 * Number of bobs cleared successfully) + 200 (If the bot reaches C with the the Swing) + 50 (for stopping in victory zone) + 50 (if the bot falls down and climbs block c) – Time in seconds – 50 * (Number of times hit by a pendulum) – 50 * (Number of restarts)
- Scoring rules are subject to change.
