Scoring Rules
There will be a preliminary round on the basis of which 16 machines will qualify for the pre-quarter finals. There will be 8 pre-quarter finals, 4 quarter-finals, 2 semi-finals and three finals (best of three) to decide the winner.
In the preliminary round each team will be competing in one half of the arena individually. The machine is not supposed to enter the other half of the arena failing which the machine will be penalized by 30 seconds everytime it does so.
Each team will be given 8 minutes to throw the balls.
There are different credits for throwing the balls.
Ball on surface of the arena carries 5 points
Ball on the top of wooden block carries 10 points
Ball on the water surface carries 15 points
The total score of a team would be equal to (credits) X (number of balls) + (8 X 60 - (time taken by the team + penalty in seconds)) X 0.25
All the games after preliminary round will be played by two teams at a time with yellow or white table tennis balls (one color for each team).
General Rules
The game is to be played between two teams.
At the start two teams will be assigned one half each of the arena. The machine has to pick all the balls from respective half and throw them in the goal-post in the same half. If during picking-up, a particular ball rolls down to the opponent's half then the machine is not supposed to pick that ball until it finishes throwing rest of the balls of its half of the arena.
After throwing its set of balls the machine can try for those balls which had accidentally rolled down to opponent's half.
Wires connected to the robot (if any) should remain slack at all times.
Any machine which tries to damage the arena, spill the water from the container, or try to disturb the opponents machine in any way will stand disqualified immediately.
The machine can be remote controlled provided the remote control used is not directly taken by a readymade gadget.
Chemical fuelling is not allowed.
Other Rules
Each team can consist of a maximum of 4 members.
The team members can be from different institutes or colleges.
The right spirit of participation is expected form the participants.
The decision of the ROBOTIX team will be final and binding.
