General Rules
Each team will consist of maximum of 4 members.
At a time only one bot will be allowed inside the arena.
At the start of the event, the bot will be placed on either one of the sides of the discontinuity of the outlined shape. Its initial orientation is at the participants discretion.
The bot has to autonomously follow the outlined shape and reach the other side of the discontinuity and stop.
After stopping, it has to display the amount of distance traveled in a specified format as given below below for a minimum of 10 seconds. This time will not be considered while measuring the net time taken to traverse the outline.
The net distance traveled will be displayed in binary format using a LED array of eight. The LSB(Least Significant Bit) bit will be displayed using a Blue led and the other bits using a Red led.
Each binary unit will correspond to 2cm distance traversed by the bot.(06 Jan 2006)
In case the bot deviates from the outlined shape on the arena or it encounters some internal problem, the team has an option of restarting their robots. A maximum of 2 restarts are allowed.
Only power supply line will be allowed to the bot. These cords/cables should remain slack throughout the event.
No kind of external control will be allowed.
Only the power source will be allowed outside the bot. All other circuitry and sensory equipment should be placed on the bot adhering to the Bot Specifications listed above.
The participants will be provided with 220 Volt 50 Hz standard AC supply. Participants will have to themselves arrange for any other power supply required for their bot.
The arena will be having a standard classroom illumination. Any extra illumination will have to be provided by the participant.
Participants are required to submit a brief write up on their bot (not exceeding 1500 words). It should mention any special algorithm, circuitry or any other unique feature which has been implemented on the bot. The Best Design Awards will be decided on the basis of these write ups. Participants must submit a hard copy of the write up at the beginning of the competition.
Scoring Rules
Score on each arena = Arena Factor * (10 * absolute (Error in distance in cms)) + 1 * (Time taken in seconds)
Arena factors:
circle = 1, regular pentagon = 1.2 , square = 2, triangle = 2.5, irregular shape = 3
Net score = Sum of scores on each arena.
The winner is the team with the minimum score.
No penalty will be awarded for deviating from the line, but if the robot deviates from the line, it should return back to the line whithin 5 cms from the point of deviation. In any other case, the team would be disqualified.
Maximum of 10 minutes will be given to each team to complete the objective on each arena.
In case of any failure of the bot , the team is allowed to ask for a restart subject to the above stated rules..
The team will be allowed to continue to the next arena only if the error in distance calculated on the previous arena lies within 20% of the net distance.
No predefined length should be fed into the robot at any stage, failing to which could lead to immediate disqualification.
Other Rules
Each team can consist of a maximum of 4 members.
The team members can be from different institutes or colleges.
The right spirit of participation is expected form the participants.
The decision of the ROBOTIX team will be final and binding.
